Who killed me?

The cat, or the jack russel terrier?

Looks a bit like the classic "I found a rat that has drowned itself in the well. Do you want me to send the photo? - NO. I do NOT, and let me say it again, NOT want to see photos of dead semi-decomposed rodents.... (My inbox a few minutes later) Inbox (1) "Thorben Bonde Hittat i källaren 2004-04-15 16:43:12"..... followed by Skype phone call to me in japan.... "-What's the time at your place right now? Have you checked your mail? It is almost completely disintegrated."....

I'm happy to see that dead-rodent-photography has got a rivival, and that you follow in your father's foot steeps.

On a little more serious note... have you secured evidence? Bite marks? pieces of fur? Is time of death established? Does any of the pets have reliable alibi for the time in question? Could both of them reached the spot where it was found? Is the site of discovery the same as the site of death? Does either of them have a motive? Why wasn't it eaten? Could it have been a suicidal rodent, and both your domestic quadra-peds are innocent? Are there any witnesses? Have you started to "knock doors" in the neighbor hood to gather information? Are you planing to make slices of the victims brain and check for neuro-genesis?

Hehe, very nice comment.

Now that Joding has thought about it, he remebers having seen bloody traces on the floor one of the days while I was gone - at least 1-2 days prior to my return. So the mouse has definitely been dead for a few days. It's likely that one of the crazy animals have bitten hard enough to puncture the stomach, since his belly was disintegrated and weird. If not, he should have been all stiff. It could also be that he's been semi-alive in the kitchen for a few days, and just died within an hour before I found him, but this seems very unlikely. Either the fur was also dissolved by acid from the stomach, or the fur had been removed by one of the killers. I suspect Cute Cat to be the perpetrator, since mice move about during night - and at those hours Melvin is safely locked into the bedroom, and only Cute Cat is roaming the territory.

I will not do anything to check neurogenesis, I assume this process has completely stopped by now. He (or she) these parts had been removed/destroyed/dissolved was cute however. And had chewed a quite impressive hole in the kitchen wall to enter.

None of the animals could reach the mouse where it was located now, under the box on wheels in the kitchen.
