Penis cake!

Marsipan penis decorations. One size/shape for all tastes.

Raspberry vanilla penis cake, with a nice marsipan cover and dark chocolate pubic hair. 1-2 drop(s) of red food paint in 500g marsipan makes the nice swedish penis colour. The penis is a thin sponge cake with lots of raspberries (mixed with some vanilla and a table spoon of lime), then the sponge sheet is rolled up to form the penis, and two 5-6 cm pieces are cut of to make the ball area. All is then covered with whipped vanilla cream and then the marsipan. To make some lovely foreskin, put marsipan on the head first, and then over the rest, and fold up the edge of the marsipan by the head marsipan.

Why...

...is blogger.com being reluctant to upload my cute marsipan/cake penises?

Bachelorette event!

- Finally I can blog my penises

As when any wedding is getting closer, it is time to show the bride a real good time and give her a treat. Today is the day after that day, and I am sitting her with my second bottle of water, trying to force as much of it as possible in me. It was such a hilarious evening. She had absolutely NO idea what was going to happen, and didn't expect us to do anything for her, since her other friends in Austria have already planned something for when she goes home just before the wedding. Even when she saw us at the beer place, she didn't understand what was going on. She was just surprised and happy to see us. It wasn't until I presented her with the penis straw on a string, that she caught on. Flipped her hands over her eyes, and shouted "noooooo!". She was so in the dark. How can you be that naïve? Thinking that getting married is some walk in the park, something you can go through, without for one evening having to drink all your drinks through a penis straw?

We had some beers first, and I felt tipsy even arriving at the restaurant, which was our second stop. There we had some excellent lebaneese warm and cold small dishes. The place was very genuine, and so was the lebaneese waitress and the elderly man owner. They were so kind, and gave us some complimentary dishes, and were really really hospitable. I recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting Malmö! Ambience is the name of that brilliant lebaneese restaurant, one street of Lilla Torg in Malmö. Just go there!

After that we walked over to one of the girls' place, with some mock detours, pretending we were going to a church etc. Upon arrival, we had champagne, and then my sister came over with the entertainment! Her non-boyfriend; the tango/salsa teaching male stripper (apparently). By the end of the evening, the bride-to-be were wearing her gift, a candy bra, which everyone were eating from, and the stripper was wearing nothing but his string underwear teaching people the tango and salsa. Brilliant, just brilliant. Topping the evening off, we served the cake I had made (as seen in the pictures) a huge raspberry penis with small penis marsipan decorations. People were heard saying a few (already) classic comments during the evening, e.g. "everyone's eating the bride" (really referring to her candy bra), and the bride-to-be said utterly exhausted "I have had so much penis today!". It's not easy getting married, I tell you that!

Enjoy the pictures, and feel free to let yourself be inspired for your next bachelorette event, or a...tuesday.

It came from the...balcony

Me to Cute cat: Look at that flower. Isn't it beautiful. Life is really magnificent here on the balcony, don't you think?
Cute Cat: I agree, more or less. Too few birds and too many neighbour-cats on my territory if you ask me.

Me: What is that over there?
Cute cat: You know, it looks like some sort of dog, running.
Me: I think it looks rather ailen myself.

Cute cat: Bah! What is that? Seriously?

Me: Is it coming our way? Run for it!

Oh no! Help! They've got me, they've got me!

It is finished!

As I said, this has only been a blog-vacation not a true vacation. I have been working hard in several other areas; like at my lab, in my garden, on my tan etc. I have also spent several hours working on my colleagues wedding dress, and now all the hard sowing is done!

I believe I have in total spent 1 hour taking measurements, 2 hours converting the measurements to a paper pattern, 2 hours making the paper pattern in to a finished test dress, 1 hour making changes on the pattern from changes wanted on the test dress, 2 hours making the first version of the underdress, 1 hour getting input on the dress, 1 hour changing it, 1 hour putting on the tulle, 6 hours trying out the attachment of the fine outer silk, 1 hour sewing it down and finally 2 hours putting on the flowers (with pins), sewing on some hooks, and making a pillow for the rings. I am sure all these time measurements are understatements, and not including all the time the dress has been progressing in my mind.

What did it make, 18h? Yes, I am sure it is an understatement, probably closer to the double to be honest. And still, what is left now, is to by hand sew on all the pretty flowers (around 40) with small yellow beads in them. That will definitely consume another few hours. And finally I will make small tulle bags for the rice. There'll be 120 guests, will I be able to make that many bags though? Sounds like so many. But of course, they'll be very simple, and I cant think each will take more than 3-4 minutes, but this then adding up to quite a few hours. I have to push it down to one minute per bag =).

However, don't get me wrong. When people these time-busy days say I have spent this and this many hours working on it, it is usually an expression of how horrible it was. This is probably as far from my feelings for the dress as it possibly can get. I have really truely loved doing it. I have been frustrated and annoyed when things didn't go the way I wanted it to, but finally it has all come out perfect in the end. It is such an hounour helping out with a project like this. I have learnt so incredibly much about sewing (autodicactically, obviously), e.g. that it is actually called 'sewing' and not 'sowing' in english.

The bride to be was here yesterday trying the whole kit on; dress, veil, necklace, shoes. And she almost cried how happy she was with it. Isn't that amazing? To be allowed to contribute to someones complete happiness, it is so rewarding and wonderful! I will not publish any pictures of the marvel until after the wedding. Not that I think her husband to be will by chance surf by my blog, but still. You can never be to careful, and he is very superstitious about these kinds of things. Best to wait. It will be here by the end of august, when the wedding is over, and I am back from the wedding/holiday in Austria. You have to check it out then, promise!

I have been on blog vacation, or so it seems =). Sometimes that's needed too. It is too warm to be inside and work on the computer, that is my official excuse. You must see how cute Cute Cat is at least, and how pretty my balcony is (still).

Reclaiming the balcony

The state of my balcony is closing in on the absurd. The plants seem to slowly trying to reclaim what once was their non-exploited soil. Grounds that now, and since about 60 years back, is the site for my house and several other. I am aware of my sole responsibility by putting them there. Or wait, I can put some of the responsibility on my mom for first of all the indoctrination of plant love, and second of all supplying me with many of the flowers and also storing them over the winter enabling them to survive for the next year.

Blame sharing in all its glory, doesn't stop my flowers from going berserk. There are flowers all around the top edge of the balcony, flowers in pots filling up about 2/3 of the area of the concrete floor of the balcony, and there are flowers hanging in pots from the inner rim of the balcony, and also flowers groing from pots on the ground under the balcony, crawling all the way up along the outside of the balcony. I believe my subconscious goal is to one year put so many flowers on my balcony that you can no longer see the green corrugated sheet metal forming the actual balcony.

However berserk the plants are, I am afraid that goal will not be reached this year. I will have to come up with a better strategy than the current. A way to put the flowers in more levels of the balcony, than just on the ground, hanging from the balcony, and on the top edge of the balcony. I think I will be needing more bricks, tree stumps and other items allowing a more variable elevation of the balcony floor. And also more pots hangning from the balcony, and even more flowers groing up from the ground under the balcony, covering the outside of it. Some year I hope I'll manage. It is really the best moment of the day, when I get to water my plants having been sitting in the warm sun all day, removing withered plant parts, and waiting while the incredible smell of moist warm soil fills the air.

Days like this, places other than my balcony seem far away.

Summer!

Pheew!! Just back in from the pool in my garden, where the water temperature was 29 C (>82 F) and air temperature dito. I was supposed to head off for Boxercise-class, but I am unable to. The sun has really gotten to me today, and I feel weak and dizzy. I have been drinking lots and lots, but maybe it hasn't been enough. But rather I think it is the sun shining on my head, warming my brain that has made me lose it.

But I have definitely had time to be good so far today. This morning I got up bright and early and went for a 55-minute quick walk, followed by a nice breakfast, and then a good cleaning of my windows (all 4 sides, all 4 windows). It took me an hour or so, and lots of sweat. I have also been down to Kilroy Travels and ordered the tickets to go to Australia/Singapore in February next year! That I am sure, will be lots of fun. It is unfortunantely far off, but it is bound to get closer each day, right?

The cat is also all beat by the heat. He has been sleeping all night, and most of all day as well. He is eating less, and being less crazy. I even get to pet him, almost as much as I want! We are both doing fine. Fine, but slow. I love the heat, it is amazing. It is like being on a sunny holiday, but at home! Excellent. Sweden can be really pretty, and now, it is at its best!
